About Us
Leighton De Barros
Leighton has over twenty three years experience in
the television industry, specialising in documentary film
making, as a producer, director, writer and cinematographer.
Winning 10 Australian Awards and having been nominated for
4 Emmy Awards for Cinematography. Leighton has worked on
many films broadcast by Discovery Channel, Animal Planet
and National Geographic, and has international clients including
Mark Burnett’s “Survivor” (CBS America)
and the BBC Natural History Unit.
In 2004 Leighton directed, produced and photographed his
first wildlife/adventure program titled Shark
Bay (1x27) in association with ABC
TV. In 2009 Leighton produced, directed & photographed, Whale
Patrol (1x52), for ABC TV & National
Geographic TV International. Leighton has recently
completed On a Wing and a Prayer (1
x 52) a wildlife documentary about the life cycle of the
endangered Carnaby’s cockatoo for ABC TV, which
he was producer, director/writer and director of photography.
Leighton also works as a freelance cinematographer. His
cinematography credits include Ocean Giants for
the BBC Natural History Unit, Dolphins of Shark
Bay for the BBC Natural World and Internal
Waves for Discovery US.
Leighton has worked on thirteen series of Survivor for CBS America, filmed
dolphins on Super 16 High Speed for the BBC’s
landmark series Planet Earth, filmed
for NHK and ABC Natural History Unit on
their blue chip wildlife program, Big
Blue, filmed on the Wild Australasia series
for the ABC/BBC and the Snakebuster series
for Discovery Channel Asia.
Jodie De Barros
Jodie De Barros is joint Director of Sea Dog TV
International Pty Ltd and has over 25 years experience in
accounting, business and finance. Managing the business
affairs side of the company Jodie started producing documentaries
with partner Leighton De Barros in 2007. She has gone
on to produce Whale Patrol (1 x 52), a
wildlife film for ABC TV and NGTI and On
a Wing and a Prayer (1 x 52), a
wildlife film for ABC TV. Jodie also freelances and
mentors as a Production Accountant and works as an Independent
Production Consultant for the Producer Offset Unit of Screen
Australia.
